While she was walking back home from work, Pixie found a hundred dollar bill on the footpath. She picked it up, noted the number and took it home.

The next afternoon the plumber called her to collect his dues. As she had no other money at home, she settled his account with the hundred dollar bill she had found. Later Pixie came to know that the plumber paid the note to his milkman to settle his monthly account, who paid it to his tailor for the garments he had made. The tailor in turn used the money to buy an old sewing machine from Mrs. Stick. Now Mrs. Stick incidentally had borrowed hundred bucks from Pixie sometime back and paid back the debt using the same bill.

Pixie recognized the bill as the one she had found on the footpath, and on careful examination she discovered that the bill was counterfeit.

How much was lost in the whole transaction and by whom?
